Roundtop Hill

Looking upriver at Roundtop Hill
Past the first set of riffles, we head toward the curve at the foot of Roundtop Hill. Roundtop rises almost 1000 feet above the river. Halfway up its eastern flank we spot a maple tree that has gone bright red before any of the others on the hill. We decide that we will continue on until we either get around the curve, draw even with the tree or the sun touches Roundtop. In the meantime, we see the next set of riffles ahead and the current is getting stonger.
